Hello,
I have down-loaded the installation file from Open Office,
OOo_3.3.0_Win_x86_install-wJRE_en-US.exe. However, when I run the
program it will not complete the installation. After some progress, I
get the error message shown in error 1.jpg and the installation is
stalled as shown in error 2.jpg. I cannot find any reference on my
machine to the file di_basetypes.dll or anything similar.
There are several suggestions in this forum post which might help:

For that user, it looks like installing Microsoft's .net Framework 4.0
fixed the problem.
I am running Windows XP SP2, and use Firefox as my browser. I tried the
installatioin program after closing Firefox and opening Internet
Explorer, but no luck.
If you are installing the browser plugins, it may be best not to be
running either browser during the install. After downloading the
installer, you can run it without needing to keep a browser window open.
I am quite interested in trying Open Office, and look forward to perhaps
making contributions is the area of macros in Calc. Your help is
appreciated.
