Not an OOo solution, but I find perl is good for this sort of thing. You
could preprocess your csv before importing into Calc.

Or you could simply use sed in a terminal.

True, not that that comes as standard with windows. He doesn't say what OS he's using.

(Besides, I've never really got my head round sed :-) Given perl's portability and its flexibility in pattern matching, it's my own tool of choice for anything from one-off one-liners to OS maintenance scripts to.... well, whatever.)
