In addition to the suggestions from Michael Adams (below): It might be useful to run chkdsk and also see if the data on the disk can be salvaged before deciding it is FUBARed. The error case is puzzling. can OpenOffice.org be opened without clicking on any document? Can any folders having the documents be copied to new folders without problems? What operation creates a lack-of-access-rights message? This reminds me of the kind of thing that can happen when something is created under one account (say as Administrator) and then accessed from another. Also, if a desktop had to be recreated, it may have reconstituted the user account improperly. Has there been a system crash lately? - Dennis -----Original Message----- From: Michael Adams [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Sunday, October 02, 2011 20:52 To: [email protected]; Rick Hayden Subject: [users] Re: Problems with opening On Saturday 01 October 2011 16:18, Rick Hayden wrote: > I have used your product for the last two years. What can be done? Try using "Start - (All) Documents"[1], then seeing if you can open the folders with Explorer. If not then your hard disk is most likely corrupt and you will have to restore from your backup, once you have replaced the hard disk. [1] The "All" only exists on some older versions of windows. -- Michael -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] For additional commands send email to [email protected] with Subject: help -- ----------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to [email protected] For additional commands send email to [email protected] with Subject: help
