[users] Problem with Database

HI I use a Database in Open Office with 1000 records with about 40 data each one
The file is a 7,5 MgB file size
I have some form to charge the data
Run in a desktop machine with ! G Ram , a 5-6 years old machine with Windows XP

 The problem is that every a couple of weecks I have been experience inaccesibility to database. I try to open the file and nothing happen ,even after repair the OO instalation . Each time I need to restore from my backups, because I can`t acess the original file any more .
Any idea How to fix this ? because I haven been losted some bottom data every time
