I think the problem was that Biddie didn't know how to unsubscribe, and
kept sending messages saying "unsubscribe." Some people got annoyed
seeing THOSE messages (instead of the types of messages they really
subscribed for) and someone got so frustrated that he used foul
language. Meanwhile, I had written a private note to Biddie explaining
how to unsubscribe, so I think Biddie's problem is solved. Presumably,
Biddie didn't even see the frustrated response from the annoyed list member.
But I'm glad that you, David, wrote this explanation so that anyone else
who wants to unsubscribe, will know all the steps (including that
"confirmation" step).
Sincerely,
Amy Lowenstein

The language in the subject line is uncalled for, as *YOU* MUST have
subscribed to this list or you would not have received the "annoying"
email messages. When you subscribed, you received a message that told
you how to unsubscribe. It asked you to keep this message in case you
wanted to unsubscribe.
*YOU* must do the unsubscribing *YOURSELF*. There are instructions how
to unsubscribe at the bottom of EVERY one of the annoying email
messages you receive. This is done to prevent subscribing or
unsubscribing by anyone other than the recipient. I repeat that
information below for your benefit.
Further I explain: To unsubscribe, *YOU *must send an email message to
the address below. The subject and body of this message are ignored.
When the message is received by the email robot, there will be an
email message containing a request for confirmation to which *YOU MUST
reply* to complete unsubscribing. Once YOU have done that you will
receive no more of these "annoying" messages.
