No I don't have anything selected and no graphics at all in the
document. I was just doing a trial with a very simple text document.
I do have the icon for making PDF's (I discovered this after I asked my
question) but I understand there are more options from the Export option
that I may want or need. And it is strange that it is missing from the
pull down menu.

Do you by chance have a graphic or anything selected when you try to
do this? Is there a red icon on you toolbar next to the save button?
