[users] Question about closing a grey page

I recently found a grey page on my desktop labelled "Untitled 1 -  
OpenOffice.org Writer"
I can not discard or close it, and I have no idea how it opened on the  
computer in the first place.  Efforts to find something in the help  
section are unsuccessful.
