Here's what WinZip told me:

Extracting f_0384
bad CRC eb80c9a6 (should be 372500c6)
Warning: the size of the extracted file (1974357) does not match the uncompressed size (1974076) recorded in the zip file

This was on trying to extract version 1.1.4. I got a similar message when trying to extract version 1.9b. I downloaded them from two different sites.

If you are on dialup, it isn't uncommon for noise to get into the transfer ans screw up the data. Error correction can only try to recover individual packets and doesn't always get it right. It will correct to the checksum for the packet, but there is no way for it to know if there is a higher level checksum, or to calculate to it if there is.

If you are on broadband, several elements of the system are suspect:
1. Failing NIC (Network interface card).
2. Noisy connection between your computer and the broadband modem.
3. Noisy connection between the drop point and your modem. This one may be due to loss of signal strength upstream. A technician can check it. 4. You're using a wireless router and there are 2.4Ghz cordless telephones in use nearby and/or in your house/office. 5. You're using a wireless router and the location of the router relative to the computer is suboptimal for reliable data transfer.

Doubtless I could come up with more, but first it would be helpful to know the configuration of your LAN or if you're using one.

Good luck,
Doug
