Hi Dave: Finally got it installed after spending 2 1/2 hours on the phone with Dell. This is a brand new Dell computer and downloading anything was just one of it's many problems. They sent me a patch that allowed me to download Openoffice and I really like what I see so far. Thanks for your assistance. Marty Sklar ----- Original Message ----- From: G. You can, of course, do what you want. I do not understand why you cannot unpack a zipfile to harddisk and run msi. That I why I asked about checking the md5sum. As with all installations on windows, you should ensure that virus protection is off during the installation. Are you aware that you can also get CDs of OOo? Are you also aware that the 2.0beta candidates are not recommended for production work. You might like to try 1.1.4 before you spend your money. See www.openoffice.org again. The SETUP GUIDE is part of the download so you should have little trouble installing once you unpack. > ----- > Original Message ----- From: Dave Barton To: > [email protected] Cc: Marty Sent: Saturday, July 02, 2005 > 6:09 PM Subject: Re: [users] [moderated] > > > On Sat, 2005-07-02 at 10:20 -0400, Marty wrote: > > When I try to install "openoffice" a window comes up thats says: Error > > 1311.
