[users] what is open office?

I am looking for a means to develop a site map, and this site keeps 
talking about Open Office, but never says what it is.

Amazing that so much tech went into this project and the user interface 
is zilch as far as telling what Open Office really is.

Is there a sample view anywhere?

Please advise.
