KDEprintFax is used in one direction only - sending faxes. I have
other means of satisfactory receiving faxes and they are in a
graphic format (*.tif - [G3]). It is only the sending of a fax
that has given me problems. I have wondered if the up-coming
version (2.0 beta) has addressed/simplified that problem?

I tried that early on, but found it was a little over my head -
well a lot over my head when it came to calling KDEprintFax as a
printer. That is how it is done in the KDE programs (such as
Kwrite).

I can see going thru extra or even different steps could
introduce some distortion. Meanwhile my solution has been to
print the report sheets and then mail them. I have been using
spread sheets since 1979 when Visicalc came out - but then that
wasn't as complex as today's spreadsheet.
