The press has been reporting that MS will change their file format yet one more time, this time "adopting industry standard" XML. Although I've been using Open Office for some time, I've never figured out how long it takes for such "improvements" to become available in Open Office?

Can someone enlighten me?

FWIW, I haven't used MS Office, formerly being a WordPerfect maven, but the way OOo was able to save in the more widely used office suite's formats has been helpful. Thanks.
