Hi Manali,
If you're importing data that's comma separated or separated by some other
delimiter, there is no option to add additional column separators as it's
assumed that the columns are already defined. If you're importing raw text, you
can add column breaks by clicking on the ruler above the box showing the import
text. To remove a column break, click on it at the ruler.
If you want to paste the data into a spreadsheet, then parse into columns,
you'll need the text to columns macro written by Paolo Mantovani. I believe
that you'll find it if you search the OOo site for 'text to columns'.

Dear Anthony,

Thanks for your help.

1.) Well while importing csv file we are able to get data in columns as we want. But if we could have an option to put/remove column divider as in Microsoft Office it would be really good.

2.) But what happens in case we are copying data directly. Can we define
columns in such case.

Hi Manali,
Rename your text file to *.csv. Open calc and use 'file /
open' and select text/csv text as the file type. You get a
dialogue that allows you to parse the incoming data.

Dear Openoffice team,

In Openoffice 2.0 beta I am having various problem with text data :

1. I am unable to import text data in Openoffice Calc. (It opens in Openoffice
Writer)

2. If I copy text data in openoffice calc then there is no option to handle
data (like in Microsoft office there is an option :
data -> Text to Columns). All the columns come in haphazard manner.

Is there any option to work this out. Pls. help.
