Thanks for responding, Roderick. I tried your suggestion and found none
of the mispelled words in the user defined dictionaries. So I will file
a bug report. I guess I will need to include the file that fails.

Should I file a bug? The reason I ask is because I filed a bug report on
something else that turned out to be poor reading comprehension on my
part. I don't want to do that again so I thought I'd post here and see
if anyone knows if this is a known issue. (I just want back and tried
all of this and the problem is repeatable.)
I would normally say yes, file an issue; however, in this case I suggest
that you check the spelling dictionaries for the one word that you say
is misspelled but doesn't get picked up. You can check that checking
does work by deliberately inserting a wrong word with auto turned on. It
should get underlined. Once you have established that spellcheck still
works you can get on with checking the lists. Here's how:
1. Open Tools > Options > Language Setting > Writing Aids
2. Highlight/select one of the dictionaris in the area labelled
User-defined dictionaries
3. Click edit
4. Enter the first few letters of the word that is not being picked
up
5. Delete if it is there
6. Repeat 2-5 until you have exhausted all the lists.
Chances are it is in one of the lists.
