Depends on your area. OO has some areas where it does not shine that much. In particular, graphs in spreadsheet is very much below the standard of the rest of the package. In fact, it is practically unusable for scientific type of work. There are also some formatting restrictions in outline numbering (in numbering in general, actually) in writer and a few other smaller issues. If you work in science or engineering then the lack of either built-in tools or the possibility of interfacing them to create arbitrarily formatted literature references and the associated bibliography is also a major pain in the neck. (Yes, I know OO 2.0's built-in biblio stuff, but if you have to write articles to sci papers, it simply isn't up to the task, really. I also know that a group is working on the biblio extensions, sort of like an integrated Endnote and more but it is not done yet, so it doesn't help you *now*.) So, well, there are areas where OO is behind the Microsoft offering, at least for sci/eng use. In others, it is well ahead. It really depends on what you want to use it for.
