I have the latest beta of 2.0 on my Windows desktop. Other than an occasional minor glitch, it is fine and it resolves a nasty font problem I had been having. However, I have been hopelessly unable to install the beta on my Ubuntu 64-bit laptop. I have followed all the advice I have read from here and elsewhere, and I can't even get the .deb packages made out of the RPMs, let alone install them. I give up. It isn't worth following that road any further. I'd rather just wait until the final of 2.0 is out, at which time I assume that real .deb packages will be available.
However, at the moment I'm having to do my homework at the university on the laptop with 1.1.3, then transfer it to the Windows computer with 1.9 for printing. That is because 1.1.3 does not print the correct characters that I see on the screen. I wish I could print from the laptop because then I wouldn't have to go all the way home to print out my homework to hand it in. In other words, the current situation is a PITA. At one time Sun was saying there would be a new version of StarOffice in July. Dunno what they're saying these days, but it's probably no longer "July." Can anyone venture a guess as to how close the 2.0 final release is getting? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
