Hello Geoffrey,
Many thanks for your reply and suggestion. I didn't really want to revert to using the OO stable version, as a large number of my files are now converted to the new format. However, you may be interested to know I solved my problem (until the bug is fixed in OO2) by simply saving a .123 file as an Excel document;opening this in OO 1.9.100 and then saving it in .dbf format. I could then create the database OK in OO 1.9.100. A bit long-winded, but like most things in computing, there are more ways than one of killing a cat! As far as the OO database is concerned, I realise it still needs a lot of development, and I personally hope to see totalling and formatting in reports, but I have no doubt it will come in the course of time! I would like to say, at this point, that I have nothing but praise for Open Office, which is getting better all the time, and if you do get into trouble there is usually someone out there to help. Just try asking Microsoft a question without purchasing their expensive support! A positive feature of OO that I haven't noticed others comment on, is the compression of files which results in enormous savings in hard disk space! So many thanks to you and your colleagues, and keep up the good work!
John B

Hello there/
Much as I would like to help, and also having followed your suggestion to
try to register the issue, having looked at the site, I am afraid it looks far to complicated for my 80 year old brain to follow. Perhaps someone else may checkout the same base/spreadsheet problem. If it hasn't been discovered
before, I would be very much surprised.

John,

My suggestion then is that you stick with the stable releases.
