and, if you do, please post issue number back at this thread - sounds like a good functionality and i would like to vote for it.

I'm slowing migrating from MS Word to Openoffice Writer. I'm using both
versions 1.9.113 (V2.0 Beta) and 1.1.4.

If I put in a crossreference to a bookmark, figure, or table and then
click on the link, as expected it jumps to the reffered section. This is
very convenient for complex documents. However, navigating back is
proving to be another issue!

How to I navigate "back"? In otherwords, is there a menu item, button or
keyboard shortcut that lets me return to the referring point I started
at?

This feature is in MS Word (Web Toolbar) and is very useful.

Hi Nick,
It does indeed appear as if this useful functionality is missing. Can you please report this in issuezilla ? ( http://openoffice.org -> "My Pages" -> "Register", then when you receive a confirmation email, "Login" and "File an issue" ) In this way the relevant developers will see your suggestion and you will also see the progress of this feature if it is accepted.
