Since you are not wanting to use the auto numbering and I'm assuming that you want to number as you wrote :
1.1) asdfjajasf 1.3) adlfajflasf Try this : type "1.1)" and what ever text you want hit enter twice (the second 'enter' will remove the auto 1.2) numbering) type "1.3" (if that is the next one you want) and what ever text you want. hit enter twice (the second 'enter' will remove the auto 1.4) numbering) type "1.7" etc....
