right click on a paragraph,
and choose
"Edit Paragraph Style", and set your choice in the alignment tab.
The will change every paragraph with this style in the document.
Do not select all the text and click the centre icon (or press Ctrl/e)
as this only affects the text you happen to have selected.
Hi David and Russel
I really got to learn to formulate myself better :-)
The problem is not the text itself, but the page the text is written on.
With my sreen resolution 1280*1024, the entire document is left
aligned, i.e. the white sheet of 'paper' is surrounded by a grey area
which is approx. 1½ cm wide to the left, but which is 10 cm to the right.
Ill. (bare with me)

So what I would like to do is to center the paper so that there is an
equal width of grey area on each side of the paper:

Hope it makes it clearer?
You want to see the text area at all times, at least this is how I
interpret your description. I find setting View > Zoom > Optimal pretty
much does what I think you want. You can also set this in the status
bar.
Hi,
That was the setting I was looking for. Thank you.
Best regards,
