[users] need help converting files

Hi I have just downloaded open office & am finding it a great program the  
only thing that I am having trouble with is that I can't convert the text  
files from microsoft works I can't seem to import them either as far as i  
can find I can only convert word documents I'm not sure if I have to  
download a converter or something but just can't seem to find anything on  
your website of in the help section of the program. Any help you can give  
me with this problem would be muchly appreciated.
