Hi Jonathan,
First off, your query merits a new thread. Try not to hijack an old
(find and replace tabs). At least that's how it looks on my news reader.
I use debian not suse but maybe it's the same. Ignore everything I say
if Suse works differently. I think /etc is a strange place to put OO.
When I install OO it sticks it in /opt which seems more reasonable to
me. I'm surprised that (a) soffice is in your path (in /usr/bin I
suppose) and (b) the directory structure is
/openoffice.org-1.9/program/. When I install a new version (e.g.
1.9.122) it goes into /opt/openoffice.org1.9.122/program/
I cd into that folder and run ./soffice as user (not root). Are you sure
the soffice in your path is current and not left over from a previous
installation? Or else Suse is really different.
