What I downloaded was the Text-To-Columns compressed file from the website I mentioned in my first post. It downloads as a zipped file (at least, that's what XP thinks it is - OO can open individual files as text and it appears that most are macros, not spreadsheets). If I double click the "zip" file, it opens with the XP file compression/extraction software leaving the folder as I posted it to the site you mentioned.

It seems like it's for 1.1.x, not v2, and I think it's what others have referred to on this list as the correct Text-to-Columns macro (there are only 2 such macros on the site). But some users apparently get a single spreadsheet that includes instructions for installing it. In any case, I'm told the text to columns macro is supposed to be included in v2.

When I try to run the Main module (under the TextToColumns module), it runs for a time, then opens a Basic window with the following line highlighted: MsgBox ReplaceParams(GetResString(MSG_ID_ERR_DESCRIPT), Array(err, error$)), MSGBOX_STOP, _

It doesn't give me any error message, but seems to just stop at this point. Nothing happens to the document. Other macros in the library run and yield an error:

"BASIC runtime error, argument is not optional"
with the following line highlighted:
aLocArray(0) = sText 'if something goes wrong, we have at least a result...

Hi Carl,
I think you may be viewing the contents of a v2 spreadsheet. Every OOo file is a compressed file with several distinct files that contain all of the data necessary for the entire spreadsheet. A 1.1.4 version file will contain *.xml files. I haven't looked at a v2 file. If you were able to get the macros imported, you want to run the macro 'Main' that is in the module 'Main'. If it works, you can assign the macro to a button or menu item.

Oh, one more thing. A "TextToColumns" folder within the larger TextToColumns folder also contains some files, with extensions of .xba, .xlb and .xdl. The .xba and .xdl files are recognized as OO configuration files, while the .xlb files are not recognized (generic icons). I didn't include a screen shot of that window in my post to the RapidShare site, but if anyone wants to look, I can post it too.

I've downloaded the text-to-columns macro on the OO site http://www.ooomacros.org/user.php#104183 It contains a number of files and folders, and I've attached a screen shot of the contents. Every other instance of this macro in the archives sounds like it contains only one spreadsheet file, but my download doesn't contain any spreadsheets - only the configuration files. The only instructions are in Italian, so no help to me.

In an earlier post, I inquired about how to use the macro and got one response which gave instruction IF my download contained one spreadsheet. Mine didn't - see attachment - but I tried to import per instructions. While SOMETHING imported, and it appears to be a set of macros and related stuff, I can't get anything to work. Also, since there's a long list of macros under a number of libraries within the Text-to-Columns list, I can't figure out which to choose. The second image in the attached file (if it made it through) is the Macro dialog box.

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and explain how to install this macro?
