I haven't found any problems installing two versions of OOo on the same computer, so why not install the existing one and then install the next one when it becomes available? I'm also currently using 1.0.1.3 and 1.9.122 on two different computers, and I have no complaints (except that 1.0.1.3 can't read OpenDocument format and can't export to PDF).
