I have transfered documents to MS office format, I have also imported an application form from my local council which is in .doc format into openoffice.org and it seems to work fine, even down to clicking check boxes (it takes a few attempts to get it right), so to me things work quite well (so credit to the team for that), the form usually has tables etc so it's quite complex really.

I did write a how_to document on the subject, which is basically how to save in a different format, however I know I sent it I just can't find it within the documentation project files. perhaps at a later date we can have a file export wizard, which guides you through the process of saving a document or saving as a different file format, (a bit long winded I know),

Most people accept cv's / resumes etc as pdf anyway, it's a nice idea to e-mail and ask if that is ok first, but I think most people have pdf reader, I know this is a difficult issue, but I have no real problems with exchanging files, then again I don't really write complex documents, but based on my experience with the application forms, I then export them back to .doc or even just save as pdf and send back, and explain to the person at the other end I don't have MS office, (for financial reasons) but do use openoffice.org

There has been a lot of posts in regards sharing
OpenOffice files with Microsoft users. (Incompatability of OpenOffice with Microsoft Office
is a Hugh road block for OpenOffice)

Posts have indicated that REF can be used to exchange
files back and forth between OpenOffice and Microsoft
Office. (The "objection" seem to be that RTF was a M$
product) Can RTF files be exchanged back and forth
between OpenOffice and Office with no corruption
occuring?

Posts have indicated that Internet Explorer can be
used by Microsoft to open OpenOffice files. Can
Internet Explorer open OpenOffice files with no
corruption occuring? (If the answer is yes, then
Microsoft can receive amd modify OpenOfffice files. The next question is to find out if OpenOffice can
share files with Microsoft when Microsoft opens a
OpenOffice file with Internet Explorer and sends a
Microsoft file back to the OpenOfficer user.)
OpenOffice can open Microsoft files. Is there any
corruption of the file when OO opens Microsoft files?
