Hello there,

Hopefully you can help:

I created a number of customised settings in OOo 2 build 1.9.118 under Win
XP.

The ones I remember are the following

- UK thesaurus

- Custom colours

- Custom graphics

- Custom memory settings

- Custom display settings for impress

- Some autocorrect entries

- Several Writer macros

Now I would like to use the latest possible beta, but at the same time
re-creating all the customisations is rather time consuming. Besides, I
also use OOo on the laptop which means that I have to do the customisations
twice.

Is there a way to migrate to a new beta release a bit less painfully?

I'm not sure that the code for this is available in OOo yet. The best way to see is to install the next developer snapshot to test.
Not sure I got your answer right :)

I looked around and found that there seem to be two possible places where user settings are stored: in the installation directory (under windows XP "some disk\program files\ etc...) in the profile settings area (some disk:\Documents and Settings\[some login]\Application Data\OpenOffice.org2\user

Now the brute force would require that I save these directories, install the latest snapshot and overwrite the newly created directories with the ones I saved. This may work but I knew what files have been modified I would avoid some potentially dangerous overwriting. For example, I know exactly where the dictionaries are (thanks to 8daysaweek)

Hopefully I've been a bit clearer now

Cheers,

Michele
