Ave,
Another question... is there any way of searching for some text and then
applying a chosen character style to it, using the Find/Replace window? [...]
IN the "Find and Replace" dialog there is an "advanced" button. Click on it
and you will see Attribute and Format buttons. using these you should be able
to do your find and replace.
No, one cannot. You can assign direct formatting using them, but not
change character style.
I have since learned that this is a long-awaited mising feature...
Note that if you use named styles this is much easier e.g. make a style called
"clients name" and then for every "Mr Jones" simply select the text and apply
the style. Later changing the style only occurs in one place.
Yea, this is a really wonderful perspective if one has several hundreds
of these occurerences to be replaced... ;-)
The solution, as I have found and even written to this list, is to
*Find* all the sought-for occurrences and select them all using *Find
All* and then manually assign them a character style using the Stylist.
Somewhat counter-intuitive ("Find All" usually does something different
in other software), but it works great, and has immense potential.
Thanks for your input,
