You are correct, I should have been clear in my explanation - it was
a file you needed if you are compiling. I'll be quiet now.

actually gtk is graphical toolkit :)
from it's homepage http://www.gtk.org/ :
GTK+ is a multi-platform toolkit for creating graphical user
interfaces. Offering a complete set of widgets, GTK+ is suitable
for projects ranging from small one-off projects to complete
application suites.
and, to be somewhat more on topic, oo.org also tries to use gtk
since some 1.9 builds :)
it still doesn't work reliably enough on some systems (for example,
mine), but i think we will hear more about gtk in association with
oo.org than before

Haha, that's like GCC for Unix, Linux and OS X. It's not clear,
because all this OpenSource stuff really is still a little geeky.
However you can contribute your success to the wikki to help the

Oops, got that a bit wrong - I think if you go to http://gimp-
win.sourceforge.net/stable.html and download the GTK thingy then
the Gimp program you should be OK . The GTK thing threw me the
first time and I still have no idea what it is or does! but it
looks like we XP-ers need it.
No, I don't know why it is not made more clear.
