I also have 1.1.4 (on Solaris) but I am not seeing the prob you
report (assuming I understand you correctly) Perhaps someone else can
comment?

Feel free to send me example sheet off the list.

OpenOffice.org (Linux) 1.1.4: In Calc, when I change the date

format is supposed to be MM/DD for that cell. How can I fix this?

I have OOo 1.1.4 (Linux). I changed the date format to MM/DD in a new spreadsheet and entered 8-30 in cell A1. 08/30 was shown in the cell. So, it works for me. If you highlight the cell containing 8-30, what appears in the Input line? (Box to the right of the "=" icon and directly above columns C on.) If there is an apostrophe ('8-30) before the 8-30, Calc will treat this entry as text.

The input box shows the date in MM/DD/YY format. Oddly, the Cell Format Numbers menu shows the "Date" format as MM/DD. So something is weird. In the cells for which this format is selected, when I enter 8-22, it comes out 08/22/2005. It is as if the spreadsheet developed its own will and insists on that format :].
