The main point in my post is that installation was incomplete because the wrong permissions on openoffice.org1.9/program/soffice precluded the execution of the application. This is either an error in my system or a bug in OOo packages. I was asking for confirmation before filing a bug report and adding workload to QA team. I see how slow the bugfixing pace is. On the other hand, I understand that the change to native installation procedures tried to avoid "custom scripts installers".
