example - I want the footnote chars (*) both to be linked to the same
footnote. When I tried via Insert --> Footnote I get two footnotes at
the bottom. If I use insert --> special Character and format the
second superscripted (*) myself then I loose the link to the footnote
for the (*) that I inserted and formated myself:
Task: finish the web interface *
Task: xiyz....
Task: Correct the tax calculations *
Task: ABC
...
Footnotes:
* these tasks may require the new tax module which will is scheduled
to be locked down in QA for the next 3 weeks ...

I guess it is dopey to ask if doing it manually will not be good enough
if you are stuck?
