It's a solution, but not a great one. The normal way for pages to
be laid out, at least from a word processing/desktop publishing
POV, is to allow changes in format mid-page. Rather than
proliferate pages, I'd rather have the ability to switch formats
at will.

For a simple instance, I'm keeping record of my weight, and I
just changed the way I record it to be more detailed. This
requires more columns. I now have a choice of starting another
page for year 2005 or laboriously reformatting the entire page,
neither of which I want to do.

This is not the first time I've had need of rearranging columns
while trying to keep related data on a single page of a multipage
broader-scoped document. I think format breaks would be a feature
that would allow more sophisticated grouping of data.

The other alternative is to "go wide" - to just place the new
data in columns to the right. But horizontal scrolling is an
awkward solution to be avoided, IMO.
