I think you folks may be missing something. If I understand the original request correctly.
What I'm about to attempt to describe refers to 2.0 Beta 2 (1.9.125). What I do is to select the rows & columns, and then select insert -> chart This brings up the chart wizard. First screen: For no labels (like your example) don't select the label boxes. I normally like my charts on seperate sheets, so I do. Next Second screen: This is the important part, on the bottom row, second from the left is the XY chart. Select this "icon" I'd suggest turning on the labels in the preview (it helps see what is going on). By the way, I presume your data is in columns, ie. (1,6), (2,8) are the first two data points. Select this also if needed. Next Third screen: Choose the line type. I like the cubic-spline with symbols. Choose the grid background you want. Next Fourth screen: Add labels (I usually have a title and axis titles). Finish. So, the key is to choose the XY chart. It may be you guys are getting there through a careful selection order of the data. But, I think this is more straightforward method. This should work on 1.9.104 also (I'm not going back to check).
