Sure, but I was making the point because sending a message to a MAILING LIST with a read receipt has the potential of causing lots of people to account for and deal with someone else's laziness. If it was only one poster, it might be less of a problem. But I think there are at least three different members here who send mail with read receipts.

I recognize that this argument may be about as fruitful as trying to convince an entire list or group of people not to use HTML mail...


Personally, I have them disabled completely. If someone wants to know if I read their email, they can request a reply. If they are too cowardly to ask, they deserve what they (don't) get.

I agree with you. And I go back and forth. I often leave them disabled completely, but do sometimes turn them on. I have used them myself before - especially if sending to someone who has reported connection problems/receiving my mail (and I don't necessarily want to wait for them to reply with a confirmation).
