Denise, if the help is not working, you probably have a bad install.  What 
version are you using?

Generally on lists like this it is a good idea to include the version of OOo 
you are running, as well as OS you are running it on.  If you are running 
Linux the explanation of how to fix the help will be MUCH different that 
Windoze.

Another suggestion is to use your browser and do a google search for 
"OpenOffice.org Help"  or "OpenOffice.org Howtos"

However, when I clicked on the "Find" tab in the help of OpenOffice.org, I 
searched for "envelop" (yes I left the e off) and found this:

Envelope
Creates an envelope. On three tab pages, you can specify the addressee and 
sender, the position and format for both addresses, the size of the envelope, 
and the envelope orientation. 
To access this command... 
Choose Insert - Envelope
