FAQs and reviews are okay but what you really want is a manual. Please
start with http://documentation.openoffice.org/ User Guides and HOW-TOs.
Then try http://api.openoffice.org/ for more techinical info. Lastly try
Ian Laurenson's wiki at http://ext.openoffice.org.nz/

You are right, OOoBASIC is not the equivalent of VB so you have to
re-write. Doc project HOW-TOs have a Cross-reference and a set of
examples to help you in your work.
