I've been looking over the documentation that is out there and have had
difficulty finding how to password protect my documents using the beta
version of OpenOffice (I have version 109 on an NT box). One of the
solutions I found was being able to check the "Save with Password" box
when attempting the "Save-as" option, but it is grayed out. I have
toyed around with the other security routes but I'm having difficulty,
and can't seem to get it to work the way I want.
First m109 is quite old and that may be part of your problem. Currently
beta2 is m125 so you can see your copy is really dated. Please consider
replacing your copy of m109
The other thing is what are your settings in Tools > Options >
OpenOffice.org > Security and which JRE do you have installed?
Addendum: I have checked my copy of OOO1.9m125 on XP Pro and no
problem. I would look at permissions and, like I said, check the JRE. (I
say this because I am uncertain whether or not the encryption et cetera
is Java dependent)

maybe different format has been chosen - one for which passwords are not
supported ?
