This probably means that OOo cannot find the Java Run Environment (JRE) that is needed to use the Base component. If you do not have a JRE, install one from java.sun.com or use Tools > Options > Openoffice.org and the Java dialogue to point to the one you have. -- PLEASE KEEP MESSAGES ON THE LIST.
