A better and simpler idea: get yourself a good "Teach yourself
English grammar", put some effort into mastering its contents, and
then apply them. It's much more satisfying, the benefits go beyond
what you type on your computer, and you'll avoid having all your
creative efforts filtered through a utilitarian mesh to end up a
boring, stilted, and sometimes unintentionally comic mess.

You will find that you can effectively use a grammar checker in word
processing software ONLY AFTER you have a reasonable mastery
of the grammar for your language. Then you can use the rules imposed
or ignore them and understand why. Otherwise your writing will indeed
"end up boring, stilted and ... unintentionally comic mess.".
This is especially true of the truly bad grammar checker built into another
very widely used word processor.
I believe that a grammar checker provided with OO.o will be like its
other features, better in a truly substantive way than other pieces of
software..
