Answer 1: Yes, default document language is Dutch. I also checked the
Character settings, and it also says it's Dutch.
Answer 2: My OS is Windows XP Pro SP2 (Dutch version), but also had the
same problem with SP1 on another machine. Both have WinRAR (3.50) as the
default (un)ZIP program.

This is what I do after every install:
- Open Writer, go to File > Wizards > Install new dictionaries
- Install the Dutch spelling checker dictionary and the hyphenation
dictionary
- Restart OOo (I didn't install the quicklaunch app)
- Tools > Options > Language Settings > Languages
- User interface: Default
Locale setting: Dutch
Default currency: EUR € Dutch
- Default languages for documents. Western: Dutch (it has the 'ABC' logo
in front of it).
This is what I get with the dictionaries I have installed but mine are
also unpacked. Something is odd here.
Even after restarting OOo and my computer the Dutch spell check doesn't
recognise any of the words typed.
It will only work after I manually unzip the dictionary files in the
OpenOffice\share\dict\ooo folder.
Two questions:
1. Is the language for your doc actually Dutch? Check Character
settings.
2. What is your OS? Perhaps the unzip utility cannot be found
automatically.
