Perhaps the colour of the screen, that asks about file associations,
should be a different so it stands out more, it seems however people are
just hitting next, on each screen with out actually reading whats on
these screens,.
Never had a problem as I read or scan through each page of the
installlation to make sure I have it set up properly.

Well, you gave it a permission to do that at the time of installation.
The present installation program specifically asks whether you want to
do that or not. At the moment, the default is no. There has been a lot
of debate about it being too vague on this issue. You can still open
all files in their respective applications simply by opening the
application and then opening the file in question within the application.
What we need is the version number of OpenOffice.org you have and the
version of your operating system in order to help you. It is, I
suppose, some version of Windows.
