Hi,
I have been using OpenOffice for over a year and recently updated
to OOo2.0 (1.9.125 at moment). I have been using it mostly for
spreadsheet work and reading MSWord files on Linux (curr. fedora
core 4 from Red Hat).
I copied of one of my HTML files which has been totally validated
by W3C as HTML 4.01 Strict and proper CSS. In an quick test, I
did a minor change to the contents (changed a word, not any
HTML/CSS). Upon saving the file, the validation was changed to
4.01 Traditional and all the text had been changed in position.
From my past programming and editing, the HTML file is formatted
to be readable in text mode without having to open the file in a
browser (kind of like properly formatted programs in C, Ada,
etc.).
I have stayed with only text editors for HTML work. Some people
had mentioned Dreamweaver to me, saying it does not change the
text it was given except for the part that was changed. I
thought I'd try to move to OOo instead.
Anyway, the questions:
Is the a setting I have missed to have OOo2.0 keep HTML source
intact as given?
If not, is there any plan to do this in a future version?
Thanks,
LAN
Hello,
As you are on Linux, look at Quanta Plus (Applications > Programming
tools) tools or install it (kdewebdev). More useful for WWW designs.
I have used it to maintain some WWW pages under FC1 but not FC4 yet.
There are other WWW design applications for FC4 as well.
Most word processors are not web development packages and most will not
maintain or produce valid html.
Or look at NVU (www.nvu.com)
