Word Perfect opens MS formats - OpenOffice.org opens MS formats - AbiWord does, KOffice does, AppleWorks, ThinkFree Office, Ability Office, EasyOffice, TextEdit, Lotus SmartSuite, 602PC Suite, StarOffice, GnomeOffice, Evermore Intergrated Office, Writely, WPS Office, NeoOffice/J --- All of these software programs - every single one of them, at least opens MS formats. Many of these run on OSes other than MS Windows, in fact, a lot of them are not available for Windows. So please enlighten me as to why in the world they would need anything from Microsoft? -Chad Smith
