I'm guessing that you have read and followed the instructions found here... What part of these instructions are you haveing trouble with : http://www.openoffice.org/dev_docs/using_md5sums.html
You can of course take a chance and simply install the file. If you have problems then you can go back and do the whole MD5 thing. I have only done the MD5 check once and I've downloaded about 10 different versions of OOo in my history...
