I've been trying to find a way to install the OOo 2.0 beta series to
an Flash drive so I can take it to places that only have MS Office.
I'm running into two problems with this.
The first is that since my home system already has it installed the
only options are to modify, repair or remove it. The other problem
is that attempting to do this on the systems at my school (which is
an Indiana University school and is practically owned by Microsoft) I
do not have the proper level of access to install it even to the
flash drive. Apparently it requires a full administrator's access to
do any kind of installation.
I would rather find a way to do this at home, since I doubt I'd have
a way of getting administrator access at school.
So more of less the question is, is it possible to install OOo 2.0
beta onto one of these drives given the conditions I have said here?
I was able to do it with OOo 1.1.5 at school, but I would rather use
the 2.0 line.

Sorry that this is so long after the event but I found the same
problem and got round it after adding a new user (windows xp) and
installing from there. Also once you install to one flash drive you
can mirror to as many flash drives as you want so all your friends can
join in easily.

Hello,
have you tried using a network install to the flash device and then
running it from the flash drive?
In 1.1.x the network install was done by running the setup program
with a "-net" or "/net" parameter and then installing to a device you
had write access to. To run OOO.org after a network install just run the
appropriate program (Writer or Calc) from the directory you did the
install. This way the only device you need admin access to is the device
you did the install to.
