Hi Greg,

I didn't get OO 2.0rc on CD. I downloaded it. I just looked at tthe SETUP_GUIDE_draft.pdf for OO 2.0 online and page 27 does not say anything about file associations. Page 27 states, "Run OpenOffice.org to insure that the installation was successful."
Would I be better off to uninstall it then reinstall it?

When I installed previous versions of OpenOffice, i.e.
1.9.125 and before that, every Microsoft Office type
file displayed in Windows Explorer, i.e. .doc, .xls,

displayed to the left of the file, much like my Word
Perfect documents (.wpd) display a Word Perfect icon
to the left of the file, or any .mp3, .wav file
displays a Windows Media player icon to the left of
the file. When I'd click on that file, the
corresponding application would open it.

Since I installed OpenOffice 2.0rc, the Microsoft
Office files no longer display the Corresponding icon.
When I click the file, I am asked which application I
want to open it.

How do I get that Microsoft default back?

Greg

It is all about file associations. Follow the directions on page 27 in the setup guide that came with OOo. (setup_guide.pdf)
