well I got to Tools -> Options ->
speedy, but could not find "Backups" anywhere

When the options dialog comes up, the first thing listed is:
[+] OpenOffice.org

Clicking on the plus sign with expand that selection.
In my 1.1.4 version, the 7th item is "Paths." Click on
Paths, and Backups is the fourth item in my 1.1.4.

That is the path to the folder/directory where all your
backups will be found.

powerfailure.

Go to Tools -> Options -> Paths On the third line you have:
Backups /home/homedir/.openffice.org2/user/backup
There all backups are found. Normally OOo opens the backup automatically
when you restart after a crash.
Hope it helps.

Now here is a problem one might get,

Lets say you are working away at something, there is a power failure (or

the

computer power just gets unplugged) because you have set up open office so
it makes a backup every so often,

When you restart the computer how do you get your backup?

(1) I looked in the help files, that only tells you how set up for back up
not how to open the back up file after a computer restart.

(2) I did a file search for "backup", that was no help.

(3) You would think if you went to file => recent documents => it would be
there on the list."last backup"
