On arriving at 'Java setup' when installing OpenOffice.org  program it tells me, "No Java Environment (JRE) found" even though I click Browse and point it to C:\Windows\Java which I already have; so can only assume it is the wrong version. However although the OpenOffice SETUP_GUIDE page 29 says it gives the option to install the JRE (i.e. a later version than 1.4.1_01) the "Install new JRE" option is blanked out and I cannot cannot find a way to unblank it.

So I installed OpenOffice.org program without the Java facility on the premise jvmsetup.exe will instal it later. OpenOffice faq says the appropriate java program can be found in http:/java.sun.com .  Very helpful and on this web-site I found the download for JRE but once it is clicked JRE is nowhere to be found but JSE is and the versions vary from 1.1.3 to 5.0.  I am now out of my depth! Specifically which one do I download?

Kind regards,
Pat Alley
