This is in no way true. OpenOffice.org does not require registration.

There may be some derivitive work, in other words some knock-off, of OOo
that won't print without registering through their site. (Maybe something
like OpenOffice995, or Easy Office, I don't know for sure - so please don't
think I am saying that they do that.) But the official
OpenOffice.orgrelease from our website does not require registration
for anything.
