Hi all
Obviously this is one of those niggly things where there are many ways
to overcome it. I tried Dan's last method in RC2 and it worked fine. Is
the most satisfactory solution the one with least action? If so then
select table (CTRL+A or follow-through mouse click) followed by clicking
the delete row or delete column button in Table toolbar is very simple.

OOo 2.0 RC1 has a similar ability. Clicking the top left corner
selects the whole table.
However, more to the point, I just created a table using 2.0 RC1. I
clicked inside one of the cells. Then I did the Table > Delete > Table,
and the table was deleted. However, if I highlighted the the cells of
the table first, Table > Delete > Table did nothing. My experience is
that you should not have use Control+A before trying to delete the
table. If you use Control+A, then you must use the procedure I listed
in an earlier email to this thread.

This is not really a problem.
CTRL+A is only selecting text within the table, it cannot select the
table, even though it appears to be doing so.
The DELETE key is designed primarily to delete *text*. It is a
feature
of the keyboard and not of the word-processor.
You will find this to be true in using most word-processors.
